SHEIL CATHOLIC CENTER CELEBRATES 71 YEARS AT ITS 15TH ANNUAL MARDI GRAS FUND RAISING BENEFIT ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY13, 2010

Evanston, IL, October 21, 2009 - Nestled into the campus of Northwestern University (Evanston, IL) is a beacon of light that has shone brightly for 70 years.

With students at its center, this ‘beacon of light’ has played a role in shaping the lives of these young people in ways that inspire hope for future generations.

The Sheil Catholic Center at Northwestern University includes a community of students, staff and associates who deliver programs that include, among others: outreach to the Evanston community; speakers on vital issues facing our world; and humanitarian trips throughout the nation/world that enrich the lives of others. By rebuilding schools and homes, and most of all, restoring hope in communities where hope is waning, Sheil continues its 70 year tradition of shaping young people into principled leaders in their community and world.

Each year, the Sheil community supports these programs (and more) by way of its own fund raising efforts, receiving no funding through Northwestern University.

The primary fund raiser for Sheil is the Mardi Gras celebration that will be held this year on Saturday, February 13 at 6:30pm at the Hotel Orrington, 1710 Orrington Avenue, Evanston, IL.
