Service Programs and Opportunities
at Sheil
Sheil
has several ongoing service opportunities available for those
who are interested. In addition to what is listed on this
page, Catholic Undergrads
and Graduate Students and Young
Adults coordinate service projects quarterly.
Also,
Sheil members will occasionally participate in specific social
justice conferences or activities, such as advocacy against
the death penalty and coordination of teams for the American
Cancer Society's Relay for Life. As these opportunities become
available, you will be able to find information about them
on this page.
Evanston
Homeless Shelter - Sunday Night Dinners
Each Sunday night,
the Sheil community cooks and serves dinner at the Evanston
Homeless Shelter (Hilda's Place) for approximately 40 individuals.
You can sign up to be a cook, a cook's helper or a server.
Cooks and their helpers are at the shelter from 4:30 - 7:00.
Servers are there 6:45 - 8:30. The Head Cook plans and shops
for the meal. Sheil will reimburse you up to $60 for the cost
of groceries. If you are interested in signing up for a week,
as an individual, family or group, we would love to have you.
The sign up sheet is in the Sheil Commons. Or you can call
the office at 847.328.4648.
