First
year students can meet their new classmates and spend their
first night at Northwestern at Sheil Catholic Center!

A new student's first
night at college can be a daunting, lonely experience -- which
is why the Sheil Catholic Center created a program that will
ensure that new Northwestern students know they have friends
they can turn to, know they have a place they are always welcome,
know they have a home away from home.
First Night last year involved a barbecue,
a photo safari, games and lots of laughs -- both around a
campfire and during a sleepover on the floor of the Sheil
lounge. Similar activities will be part of this year's First
Night.

First Night 2008 DATE: Monday,
September 15 to Tuesday, September 16
You are welcome to arrive at any time. It ends when everyone
wakes up and eats a Sheil breakfast at 9:00 Monday morning
-- the day Northwestern has you to check into your dorms (the
day non-Sheil students face that daunting, lonely experience
of arriving at college).
Sheil First Nighters will be a day
and a friend (a lot of friends, in fact) ahead of other first-year
students.
But what if I have other commitments
on campus that day, like Band or Athletics?
No worries! You're
welcome to stop by any time. Come to our free barbeque at
5:30pm or whenever you have a few minutes—we'd love
to meet you and introduce you to other First Night freshmen,
upperclassmen and some staff members.
