Baptism

Baptisms are generally held on Sundays, following the 11:00 Mass (approximately 12:15). All baptisms are scheduled by calling the office at 847.328.4648. We have a program in place to assist you and your family with preparation for your child's baptism. Generally these classes are held the second Sunday of the month at 1:00. Please contact Mary Deeley at 847.328.4648 or at m-deeley@northwestern.edu for more information.

First Communion

The Sacrament of First Communion is offered to our second graders in the Sheil School of Religion. You can click here for more information.

Confirmation

Adult Confirmation classes are offered at Sheil each spring. These are for baptized, catechized, practicing Catholics who are not yet confirmed. You should be at least 18 years old to participate in this program. It is geared toward college students, graduate students and young adults. There are four 90 minute classes, a rehearsal, and then the celebration of the Sacrament at St. Benedict's in Chicago. If you are interested in participating in this program, please call the Sheil office at 847.328.4648 for more information.

The Sacrament of Confirmation is offered to our eighth graders in the Sheil School of Religion. You can click here for more information.

Reconciliation (Penance)

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered Mondays and Wednesdays after the 4:30 mass, during the school year. You may also call Father Ken Simpson for an appointment at 847.328.4648. During Advent and Lent we offer communal penance services. These services have communal prayer with a scripture reading, short reflection and examination of conscience. Individual confession and absolution is then available (with your choice of several priests).

The Sacrement of First Reconciliation is offered to our fourth graders in the Sheil School of Religion. You can click here for more information.

Marriage

The Sheil Chapel is available to students, recent alumni, Sheil associates and their children for weddings. Please call the Sheil office at 847.328.4648 for scheduling and information, at least four months prior to the planned wedding date.

Charlene and Bob Shaw, Sheil Associates and long-time facilitators of pre-cana classes, will offer a pre-cana class to be held at Sheil. Dates and times to be announced. Registration is limited to 5 couples. Please sign-up in the Commons or call the office for more information.

Our wedding guidelines are attached for your reference. They can be read using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Acrobat Reader is freeware that can be downloaded from the Adobe Web site.
